Community Guidelines

At Flow Club, we hold space for one another to make progress, to do their best work, to experiment and to fail….and to do it all over again tomorrow.

Help us ensure Flow Club is a place that’s welcoming, inclusive, and valuable for everyone.

Values

  • We reclaim our agency and our time by limiting distractions and working intentionally.
  • We channel positivity, but prioritize showing up authentically because that’s how we can best feel supported.
  • We work well, not just hard. We step off the hamster wheel of productivity to pursue work/life balance through flow.
  • We celebrate incremental progress and embrace every setback.
  • We respect each other’s time, space, work, goals, identities, and vulnerabilities. We don’t judge, pry or intrude, and we definitely do not offend.
  • We practice gratitude towards our hosts for holding space and to each other for pushing us collectively forward
  • We take our work seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously (dad jokes ftw)

Etiquette

  • Honor the session structure and the host’s role: Having structure helps everyone be more intentional. Hosts are your peers who have volunteered to facilitate the structure. Respect the structure and let your host lead.
  • Share briefly and intentionally: Sharing your intentions with the group increases commitment and encourages action, but keep it short and focused. If you’re late, simply share in the chat and get started.
  • Respect confidentiality and don’t overshare: Keep anything you see or hear confidential, and be thoughtful about how much you share when it’s your turn. Share just enough detail to keep yourself accountable.
  • Start and end on time: We show up, start, and end sessions on time. This is how we show respect for everyone’s time.
  • Actively participate as much as possible: You enhance everyone’s experience by participating fully.
    • Keep your video on when possible to stay accountable.
    • Verbally check in and out with the host. Use the chat if unable to speak or in a chat-only session.
    • Work intentionally, reflect on your progress, and celebrate with everyone.
  • Minimize distractions: Be mindful of your presence on camera. Turn off your video if it might distract others. If you need to move around, position your camera to minimize distractions.
  • Be friendly and respect boundaries: Maintain a positive atmosphere and respect personal boundaries. Acknowledge others with a simple greeting or a wave. Avoid cross-talking or giving unsolicited advice. If there is interest in a conversation, arrange to take it offline.

Rules

Respect each other

Flow Club is a diverse community of people from many backgrounds, so please be polite, professional, and respectful in your interactions with other members. No personal attacks, insults, bullying, or harassment. Be tolerant of different ways of engaging with others. Respect each other's boundaries; if someone doesn't want to share information with you, don't push further. Don’t be disruptive.

We have a zero-tolerance policy for any attacks, bigotry, or discrimination against a person or group based on their race, ethnicity, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation.

Protect everyone’s privacy

Don't share anyone's personal information and respect their privacy, which includes using their Display Name even if you know them by a different name offline. If you do share information from a session, make sure you anonymize it. Doxxing is considered a serious violation.

Keep it light

People are here to focus on their work and tasks; topics like politics and religion can cause arguments and inflame tensions when the goal is to stay in the flow. There should be no political or religious messages or images in your backgrounds, bio, or display name. Avoid discussing these topics in sessions.

Keep it appropriate

It isn't appropriate to flirt, seek a date, or make comments on people's appearance, affect, or presentation (positive or negative). Clothing should be 'safe for work' and absolutely no nudity.

Avoid solicitation & self-promotion

Members come to Flow Club to focus on their own projects, so please keep the sessions as a pitch, promotion, and solicitation-free zone. If connections develop organically — great! But make sure the interest is reciprocated and if you don’t hear back, then assume the answer is no and don’t pursue this any further.

Display names should be names

Part of being in a community is knowing how to address each other. While no one should feel obligated to reveal their full identity unless they choose to do so, human sounding names are useful in showing our humanity to other humans. Your Display Name doesn't have to match the one on your birth certificate or ID, but should be a human sounding name. For instance, if your name is Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor, you could go by Elizabeth, Lizzie T, Beth, Liz, Rosemond, Taylor, or even ET. All of these options work well as a Display Name, however, names like 'The Dame,' 'violeteyes,' or 'actress1932' are not suitable choices.

This isn't the right place to ask for crisis support

We understand that if you're experiencing a crisis and having thoughts of suicide or self-harm, it's important to reach out to people for support. However, it's not possible to know who else might be experiencing these issues, and your outreach could potentially trigger their own crisis. Additionally, they’re not trained to provide the help you need and could inadvertently worsen the situation for you and cause trauma for themselves. If you're experiencing a crisis or emergency, please seek immediate help by contacting the following resources:

Reporting

At Flow Club, we’re reliant on your reports to alert us to any issues and enforce guidelines.  Every report you make will be reviewed by a person. If you feel that there is something that requires follow-up or further explanation, please feel free to email us at safety@flow.club

We strongly recommend that once you find yourself in a situation where you need to report someone, you remove yourself from the session and avoid participating in future sessions involving that person.

Action

We believe that our members have made a commitment to Flow Club and support what we're doing. We will work with them if there are any violations of our guidelines.

If we receive a report that we believe requires action, we'll take the following steps:

  1. We'll reach out to you and send you a friendly email, informing you of the rule you have violated and whether further action is required.
  2. If you violate the rule again or fail to take the required action, we'll send a less friendly reminder and explain our next steps if no action is taken.
  3. If we cannot reach a resolution on the issue, it may result in the cancellation of your Flow Club membership without refund and a permanent ban from the community.

There may be instances where we ask you to rectify the problem, but if there is a matter of safety or extreme concern, such as a racial slur in someone's bio, we will take immediate action to remove it.

We believe that most of these guidelines represent standard good behavior when interacting with the people you work with. If you are still within your free trial period and have already violated our guidelines, we may assume that the Flow Club community is not the right fit for you, and we reserve the right to cancel your trial and permanently remove you from the app. [Please note that this action will be reversible in case of error.]

Appeals

If you believe our decision was incorrect or if there is additional context, such as your parents actually naming you Violeteyes, please feel free to send us an appeal at any stage of the process. You can respond to the email you received or reach out to us at safety@flow.club.
